President Obama, congratulations on being awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for giving hope to the world. I do find it odd that he has won so early in his term, as the cut-off day for nominations was 12 days after he took office, but I’m not going to complain here. “Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the Nobel Peace Prize committee said. Obama calls it a call to action for him to live up to the honor of receiving the award.

Starting a new “cycle” of The Hills now that Lauren Conrad has left the show and replacing her with her original on screen rival Kristen Cavallari. But will LC show up again like in the second season of Laguna Beach and steal the spotlight back again? She claims no, but come on, it’s not like you can ride a crappy MTV reality TV show to the stardom she wants. In the end, I see her falling back to it, sorry LC. Also, the tagline for the new season is “The Bitch Is Back”… but is there really a lack of bitches on that show? And why have they ripped off an Elton John song?

Who ever ran out and bought the rights to the Beatle’s music collection after Michael Jackson kicked the bucket, this acclaim is for you. Last month on 09/09/09, the Beatles released digitally remastered versions of their entire LP collection. Best Buy even sold them with small crates designed to invoke feelings of how people used to store their records in crates. I have yet to purchase a remastered album, but I’m sure they sound wonderful.

Last week marked the premiere of Stargate Universe, a new series in the Stargate franchise that is more like an emotional drama like Battlestar Galactica. I bothered to watch the series because without a decent sci-fi television series, I find myself lost. I was displeased to discover that the “SyFy” network decided to only air 2/3 of the 3 part pilot entitled “Air”. If you’re going to hook an audience with a pilot, it’s best to air the entire thing or else people lose interest or judge the show on the 2/3 they were able to watch. I thought the first 2 hours of boring backstory that cut-in and out of their immediate predicament and random moments to be quite irritating and just as they were about to use the stargate, they cut to black and ended the show.

Early this morning, NASA bombed the moon with their LCROSS (Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite) leaving many people stunned that our government would bomb such a peaceful place. NASA hopes that the data from this mission will help determine with there is water on the moon, which can be useful when leading to manned explorations into our solar system. So congratulations NASA for taking that first step out the door… especially when funding for both the lunar base and the Mars Exploration seems to have gone away.
